The McKinney Modern Quilt Guild (McKMQG) is a branch of The Modern Quilt Guild. We are a community of quilters in McKinney and the surrounding areas who strive to inspire and educate others on the art of modern quilting. Our members range from beginner to expert, so all are welcome regardless of your quilting experience.

The McKMQG has monthly meetings where we learn and discuss ideas and techniques. The Show & Tell portion of our meetings is a favorite by all as we share our completed projects or works-in-progress. We will also occasionally meet for other events such as sew days.

We also have an active Facebook page which serves as another way of getting to know each other. We frequently post work-in-progress photos or seek advice from each other regarding fabric choices, products, and techniques.

Please join us! New members are welcome at any time and your first two meetings are free. If you like what you see, we ask that you officially join and pay membership dues. With your paid dues, you will be entitled to certain member rights and benefits. If you want to keep visiting after those first two visits, you're welcome to pay as you go with a $5 fee per meeting.

You can learn more about our guild by checking out our Bylaws and Rules of Regulations.

We hope to see you at our next meeting as we always welcome new members!

A little guild history:
The McKinney Modern Quilt Guild was formed in 2013 after a group of modern quilters started meeting at Stitched with Love, a quilt shop in McKinney. Until 2017, the guild met at Stitched with Love. The shop stayed open late and let members have special shopping time after meetings. It was delightful! The guild had its first retreat in September 2014 at Creative Cottage in McKinney. In 2015, the guild hosted their first national speaker, Lee Monroe of May Chappell Quilts. What fun we had! We had many fun retreats over the years. As the guild grew, the space available at our favorite quilt shop shrank. We moved a few times but have been meeting regularly at Fire Station #7 in McKinney, Texas since 2019. We love to serve our community and make quilts for children served by Collin County CASA. We've learned to be excellent online guild members during 2020 and met on Zoom from March 2020 until....well, we'll see when that ends!
