Programs
April Meeting:
TX State Fair Entry details & QuiltCon Highlights and Recap from several guild members
A representative from the State Fair of Texas will come and talk about
how to enter items into the fair and how that whole process works.
Then we will have a recap of quilt con highlights from several members
who attended the show in person.
Also in April, Sterrett Coleman is teaching a workshop on English Paper Piecing.
The workshop will be 4
/25 from 10am-4pm @ Fabric Fanatics.
There will be a sign up sheet at the April meeting. $50 fee - cash or checks preferred
May Meeting:
Looking forward, our May speaker will be Charles Cameron who is a
nationally known modern quilter. Charles' work explores the use of
bright colors, color value and mixture of precision and whimsy to
reinvent more traditional quilt patterns and designs. He is excited by
setting rules for color placement and constructing blocks in an
efficient, assembly-line fashion, then trimming blocks with a 'wonky'
tilt and relying on his eyes' intuition to place the finished pieces in a
way that maximizes impact.
Our space for this meeting will be tight and since Charles is a
nationally known quilter, we will be opening this meeting up to guests
for a fee. We will be sharing on the website and in email about how to
register for this presentation for both members and guests to make sure
that we have enough seats for everyone.
Membership
Did you know? We can use our Membership Receipts to get
10% off at McKinney Knittery. If you have thrown away your receipt, you
may be able to take a photo of it in the receipt book maintained by the
Membership Committee.
We have been asked by YLI threads to ask our members to respond to a
survey - if enough members do, we will get a box of thread for the
guild. You do need to put your name on the survey so that it gets
counted for our guild, you can find the survey here:

Community Service
Stop by the table in the back to pick up
kits, or borrow a book with pattern ideas for quilts. We have some kits
that are already cut for you to start, and we have a couple of tops
ready to quilt especially if you have a long arm, and quilts ready to
bind! Lots of opportunities.
Does your employer track charitable time? Our
organization is a 501-3c, which means time spent on guild work may be
eligible for being tracked by employers who encourage tracking of
charitable time. Our quilts are also donated to a charity (CASA of
Collin County in McKinney), so any time worked on Community Service
quilts should be eligible as well.
