 July Meeting:
Summer Pot Luck!!

July is our summer pot luck and there are a bunch of things going on!!
first bring your own cup and drink to the meeting - there is water in the kitchen but there will not be drinks provided.
Bring an item to share at the pot luck. Please include a small note listing main ingredients as we have a number of members with dietary limitations

This is the meeting where we have several big gift baskets of quilty stuff for raffle, so bring cash to purchase raffle tickets!  Tickets will be $1 each, so please bring small cash or cash that totals the number of tickets you want to purchase.  It will be difficult to make change for large bills.

Membership

Did you know? We can use our Membership Receipts to get 10% off at McKinney Knittery. If you have thrown away your receipt, you may be able to take a photo of it in the receipt book maintained by the Membership Committee.

Community Service

We are looking forward to the next delivery to CASA which will be in August.  Since we are halfway through the year, this is a good time to finish the community service projects you've started.  If you took a kit this year at any time and realized that it's not your thing or you don't have time, NO WORRIES AT ALL, just bring the kit back so that someone else can take it and work on it.  We want people to enjoy doing this work, so don't feel obligated just because you picked up a kit.

Does your employer track charitable time? Our organization is a 501c3, which means time spent on guild work may be eligible for being tracked by employers who encourage tracking of charitable time. Our quilts are also donated to a charity (CASA of Collin County in McKinney), so any time worked on Community Service quilts should be eligible as well.

Events

The July Event is the ONE YARD RIPOFF!  Bring a full yard (36" x full width of fabric) of a modern low volume quilting cotton and a small pair of snips or scissors.  The ripoff will end up turning the one yard into a number of different sized pieces that are then swapped around the group, so you will still go home with 1 yard of fabric, but you will have a number of different fabrics.   There will be a challenge announced for using your low volume fabrics from the rip off.

July will also have another round of Scrap Jar Fun - see what gets made and who gets the scrap jar for the next month.
